On the 31st October 2016, Ruban asked the girl of his dreams to marry him.
Ruban and Miranda live in Amsterdam. They met during university in Rotterdam. They have been together for 8 years, it was time to pop the question. They both love to travel and explore new places, they take time out of their busy lives to do a special trip every year. They booked a trip to South Africa for a holiday, this trip was going to be the most memorable of them all.
Ruben’s idea of the perfect proposal was a stunning location, gardens and private. “He wanted to make her incredibly happy”. As she loves botanical gardens and flowers we thought of doing it at Babylonstoren in Franschhoek.
On the day, the weather was amazing. They first went on a garden tour, which Babylonstoren is famous for. Here they got to learn about all the different plants, flowers and trees that are planted at Babylonstoren. After this, they walked up through the avenue of trees to get to the private dam. Here they enjoyed a picnic styled lunch from the Green House. Miranda loves tea, so we arranged a special box filled with a variety of South African tea. She also loves white chocolate, so we brought lots to place on the table as another surprise.
Ruben asked that all important question, “will you marry me?” and she said “YES”. Jilda captured the proposal on film. We have never seen such a beautiful ring… we really loved how different it was.
Ruben and Miranda proposal at Babylonstoren was so special, lovely to meet such a happy couple. We really enjoyed talking to them and getting to hear their stories. Wishing them all the best for the future.Photographer: Jilda G
