On the 8th April 2017, Melissa and Ashley got married at Die Woud.
‘WOW’ is all we can say about this wedding. We loved being part of the planning process as Melissa was so organised from the beginning. They hired us as their On-the-day coordinators so we joined the planning process about 1 month before the wedding date.
They had a clear vision from the start of what they wanted for their big day, they brought in both personalities to make it personal. For example they had a whiskey bar, both being in the liquor business they had access to a great selelction of whiskey’s. They had 89 guests which was perfect for the venue and space.
Die Woud wedding venue is out of this world. They have a forest which is used for the ceremony. This area has the most amazing energy, and is always green. Benches for guests to sit on and old doors used for the entrance.
The reception area is a clear marquee in the middle of the forest. The design being so simple but it works SO well. A compact area that keeps the wedding together.
Melissa looked radiant in her wedding dress, she got dressed down the road from the venue so arrived in a vintage VW van with her bridesmaids. Danielle Jacobs was reposiable for doing such a great job with her hair & make-up. Ashley looked very smart in his suit and waited patiently for his beautiful bride to arrive.
Jana from Harp noted was playing her harp as Melissa walked down the aisle. One of their best friends did the service. After the I do’s, they went for photo’s around the property. The photo’s are just stunning. Well done to Gustav Klotz for caturing their magical moments throughout the day & night. To see more photo’s visit his blog post here.
The Food was done by the venue, they had pizza’s during pre-drinks. They love music and had Angelo & Sarah sing during pre-drinks. The bride and groom joined the guests after the couples shoot as they wanted to experience the pre-drinks area. A lovely idea if you have the time to play with and the photo’s are done quickly. Naked bulbs hung from the trees outside. Fire pits were lit later that night to create an amazing atmosphere outside.
Melissa had sprayed plastic animals gold for their seating chart. These escort cards showed the guests what table they were seated. A very fun and interactive idea for guests, it was also mentioned in the speeches as each person received a different animal. So all the monkey’s had a lot to say 🙂
The reception area under the clear marquee looked beautiful. Nadia did a great job with the flowers and deco. A simple mix of greens & whites that worked so well. Tall candles and small flower arrangments in glass vases were used on the naked wooden tables.
The starter was a mushroom tart, followed by leg of lamb and gnocchi option for veg. All plated and served by the venue staff to the long tables. The dessert table was laid out near the dance floor with the beautiful wedding cake as the main feature.
After all the fun and meaningful speeches, they cut the wedding cake. A2 tier cake made by The Birdcage in Stellenbosch. This was followed by their first dance, it was beautiful. Then the party started.
Melissa and Ashley Wedding at Die Woud was so special, a day to be remembered by all. Thank you for choosing us as your planners, we had a great time working with this amazing unique couple. Wishing them all the best for the future.
