On the 18th March 2016 David and Emily got engaged. It was the most romantic proposal as it was a secret garden theme. All the way from London, David booked a trip to sunny South Africa for work. He took two days out of his busy schedule to plan the perfect proposal.
David first got in touch with us for ideas and places to stay in Cape Town. As they are from the U.K. we suggested boutique hotels with views and that were close to town. They wanted to tour Cape Town as she had not been here before. The Camps Bay Retreat was the chosen location due to it being dog friendly and the pretty gardens. We soon found out that Emily just LOVES dogs! They unfortunately could not bring their dog from the UK so David felt he needed to include the miniature whippet somehow. We suggested little cake toppers that we could place on cupcakes. We had Ali from Ladies & Gentleman hand make a lady, man and mini dog for the proposal. They are just too cute and fitted in so nicely to the tea party / secret garden theme. The cake toppers can then be used again at their wedding…
On the day, we booked Emily into the Spa on the property to get her nails done. While she was busy we showed David the way to the secret path and down to the proposal spot. The spot was at these old baths in the garden that have a great deal of history. We set up a little table, chairs and some fairy lights in the garden to make it special. Once Emily’s nails were done, David lead her down to the secret spot. He popped the question and she said YES! Emily was very surprised and had no idea what just happened… Jilda the photographer took some photo’s of the happy couple after the tears had passed. Emily and David secret garden proposal was lovely to be a part of.
You will notice the cute golden retriever called Ben in the photo’s… we ‘found’ him at the hotel (he lives there) and decided he wanted to be in the photo’s. We found it very appropriate as Emily just loved having a dog around to share the happy moment. David actually wanted a miniature whippet dog to wear the “dog tag” that says “marry me” but we decided to place it on the table and give it to their special miniature whippet to wear back home. Those dogs are not that easy to come by!
They stayed the night in the honeymoon suite and enjoyed a dinner to celebrate this very special occasion.
