Planning a surprise sunrise beach proposal is always special, but Keletsi’s vision for proposing to his girlfriend, Onthatile, was truly thought-out. From the very first conversation, it was clear that this was a celebration of love, intention, and perfect timing. The fact that it took place over Onthatile’s birthday weekend made the moment even more meaningful.
Keletsi had been planning this surprise well in advance. He knew exactly what he wanted the day to feel like: intimate, emotional, deeply personal and taking into her account her love of the beach . One detail stood out immediately: sunflowers. They are Onthatile’s favourite flower, and for Keletsi, incorporating them wasn’t optional; it was essential.
We chose a quiet stretch of beach where the sunrise would be uninterrupted and golden. Sunrise proposals require careful planning, as timing is everything. We coordinated the setup in the early hours of the morning, working in the dark as the sky slowly began to change from deep blue to gentle pastels.
The setup featured a heart of sunflowers at the centre of a beautifully styled proposal spot facing the ocean. Soft neutral tones were used to complement the natural surroundings, allowing the bright yellow of the sunflowers to shine. Thoughtful details were layered throughout, petals in the sand, subtle décor elements, and a focal point that framed the moment without overpowering it. Everything was designed to feel effortless, romantic, and perfectly suited to Onthatile.
Keletsi arrived with Onthatile just as the sun began to rise over the horizon. What she thought was a simple birthday morning outing turned into a moment she would remember forever. As she took in the scene and realised what was happening, the emotion was undeniable. When Keletsi got down on one knee, the world seemed to pause for just the two of them, the sound of the waves, and the glow of the rising sun.
She said yes, joyfully, tearfully, and with the biggest smile. The sunrise painted the sky in shades of gold and pink, mirroring the happiness of the moment. After the proposal, they took time to soak it all in, capturing beautiful photographs and celebrating the start of a new chapter together.
Keletsi’s sunrise proposal was a perfect reminder that the most unforgettable moments are created when love, planning, and personal touches come together. By honouring Onthatile’s love for sunflowers and choosing a peaceful sunrise setting, he created a proposal that was as unique and radiant as their love story.
