We recently went on a trip to London and finally meet up with Daisy who is the founder of a company called The Proposers. They are a UK based company who offers proposal planning just like us! We asked them a few questions and this is what they had to say:
When did the company start?
I started the company in 2012.
How did you think of the idea and what made you start your own business?
I came up with the idea when my brother wanted to propose to his girlfriend and asked for my help. He was clueless about the whole proposal process, and I thought that there must be tonnes of other men in the same situation as him. Then I realised that there was a huge gap in the market for starting a cool and creative company that organises marriage proposals and that is how The Proposers was born!
How many proposals have you done?
In the past 4 years we have arranged over 650 proposals and other romantic events.
What is your best proposal to date?
That’s a really tough question because each of our proposals are so unique and personalised to that couple that I love them all, and couldn’t choose just one. My first one, a proposal in art gallery though will always hold a special place in my heart.
Any odd requests that you’ve had to assist with?
So many! I have organised proposals where we have dressed cats up as waiters, dogs a Disney characters, I have abseiled into caves to create a private dinner, and one person even asked us to have a trained squirrel bring the ring over to his girlfriend!
What is your best reaction you have had from a couple?
Two spring to mind. The first was in a French Chateau. The girl was teary, then excited, then laughing, and then jumping around the place. It was lovely to see that! We also found it hilarious on another occasion when one of the girls reacted by swearing at the top of her lungs for about 10 minutes, not because she was angry, but because she was so shocked!
Have you ever had a NO?
Never. Fingers crossed we never will!
What is the most popular venue in the U.K?
Tower Bridge because it’s so iconic and The Shard, because of the great views.
In what other countries have you done proposals?
We have done proposals all over the world. France, Italy, Belgium, Turkey, Cyprus, America, UAE, Hong Kong, Iceland, Zanzibar, and that’s just to name a few!
What style of engagement ring tends to be most popular?
Like with proposals it really depends on the individual. If they’re girly they tend to go for a cushion or princess cut ring. If they have more of a vintage style emerald cuts or asscher cuts are always popular.
What tends to be your clients biggest worry?
That their partner’s going to say no!
What advice and tips would you give your client before he pops the question?
Stay calm, and enjoy it! Also make sure that you get down on one knee, ladies love it and it always makes a great photo!
How do you calm their nerves on the day?
We just reassure them that their partner will love it. We never plan anything that we think their partner wouldn’t like.
What defines the perfect engagement?
Just that the proposal matches the couple so that they both love the experience.
Tell us a bit more about your service? How you help plan unforgettable proposals?
We make sure that we take the time to get to know the couples and their relationship. What they like, what they enjoy doing together, their favourite movies and songs, whether they are outgoing or private, anything that can help us make the day all about them.
