Summer is just around the corner in Cape Town and hopefully, some of these trends will inspire you when planning your big day!
Summer Wedding Trends
Dynamic colours
Sophisticated bright colours are on trend for this summer. Sticking with two hues will keep the space looking classy, rather than like a carnival-theme. Instead of using a variety of colours for the reception area, rather use a dynamic colour for a bold statement.
Chilled music
Alternative summery music styles create a laid-back vibe during your pre-dinner drinks. A signer accompanied by a ukulele could add a unique touch to a summertime wedding.
Décor & Flowers
Natural centrepieces such as wooden vases or moss are an eco-friendly and cheaper alternative to expensive floral arrangements. A trendy idea is to have cut citrus fruit as centrepieces. These are unexpected and visually appealing. For example pineapples or pomegranates.
Opting for a flower wall that guests can pose in front of will give your wedding reception an ambience perfect for the fresh summer season.
Themes
Bali-style weddings are going to be a popular theme this summer. Create a rustic-look, by hanging wooden lanterns from the ceiling of your reception venue. Palm leaves are also a great and cost-effective way of styling the room.
Bar/ wine
Frozé or a wine smoothie, which is frozen rosé is a little out of the ordinary, unlike the usual margarita or frozen daiquiri. Frozé is cold, frosty and packs less of an alcoholic punch than a cocktail. A wine smoothie consists of rosé or a fruity sauvignon blanc blended with ice and seasonal fruits such as berries. There is nothing more thirst quenching in the midst of a summer.
DIY cocktail bars are also going to be a big hit this season. Allow guests to create their favourite drinks using fresh fruit as a summertime twist. Gin is a huge trend at the moment and what’s classier than to showcase local gins and different tonics on an elegant gin trolley.
