SA Weddings ~ Bride of the year 2017

Bride of the Year is an annual event hosted by SA Weddings.

You can vote for the top 12 brides and grooms from each month. After the voting is closed, the top 12 finalists get invited to the show and walk the runway to find one winner. It really is a fun event that draws crowds of people. We were asked to assist with the coordination on the day of the event. Like last year we are so happy to get involved and work with the lovely SA Weddings team.

This year the show was held at the stunning Anura wine farm in Stellenbosch. There were about 450 guests who attended. The sponsors who were involved really did an outstanding job. Just to mention a few, there was a yummy candy table, Gin bar, coffee station, wedding dress display and harvest table. On the decor side, greenery was hung over the stage and huge flower arrangements brought in, decorative lighting was used and a large stage was created. The menu was canapés to start and burgers & wraps after the show. They always get in some famous faces to judge the show. This year, the MC was Graeme Richards who always does an outstanding job. He really makes the couples feel comfortable and relaxed on stage.

The bride & grooms stayed at Vrede en Lust which was down the road from Anura. The brides got pampered all day with nails treatments, hair styling and make-up. While the lovely brides got ready the grooms went wine tasting at Vrede en Lust.

On the night, we were not blessed with great weather, however, guests arrived and the show began. The couples get dressed backstage into their wedding attire. They then walk down the ramp to show off their wedding dresses. They also get asked one question by the MC which is related to their wedding day or relationship. The couples did a great job this year, they were so confident and happy on stage that really created a happy atmosphere.

The winners this year were MRS & MR MAY, a lovely couple from Johannesburg who won a trip to Seychelles. The prizes every year seem to get better and better, the couples get spoilt with treats. After the winners are chosen they are asked to dance their first dance to open the dance floor. Then the party begins…
