Perfect Pottery Proposal

On the 2nd of January 2024, they got engaged!

Michael contacted The Perfect Proposal and said that he wanted to plan an ‘artsy’ proposal, and we had the perfect place in mind: Baikt Ceramics. This wonderful pottery studio is situated on Kloof Street, in Gardens, and every Friday night they run a ‘couples date night’. Each couple sits together creating beautifully wonky trinkets by candlelight while sipping wine. When we heard about this fantastic place, we thought it would be the perfect spot for a proposal!

After explaining our idea to Mike he was sold. The idea was to arrive, have the ceramicist explain the basics, and then start creating. Sian, the photographer on the day, was ‘disguised’ as being there to create content for Baikt Studio’s social media accounts. Thus, no suspicion was raised that a photographer was snapping away throughout the class. In the meantime, Mike had created a bowl with the words ‘Will you marry me’ at the bottom. When he was ready, he called Annerie over, showed her his creation, and dropped to his knee. Annerie burst into tears, and the rest of the class cheered in excitement. Of course, it was an overarching, YES!

The studio is conveniently situated opposite one of the best restaurants in the city: Kloof Street House. We made a dinner reservation for them after the class ended so that they could continue the celebrations with a wonderful meal. We loved being a part of this very special proposal, and we wish Mike + Annerie all the best – what a fabulous way to kick off 2024!
