Our Perfect Wedding, Pippa & Max

On the 25th April 2015 we had our perfect wedding! I married my best friend, the man of my dreams and soul mate. It was the bright bohemian forest wedding I always imagined.

The Inspiration:

As I am in the wedding & events industry it was quite tough picking a theme or colours as I want to do them all. After seeing the venue my ideas came to life… we wanted a very “boho, chilled, market, forest themed wedding”. The Glades is a venue that could offer all of this and what a venue it was! Our ceremony was held in the forest next to a dam which was just breath-taking. Our family are car obsessed so a VW hippie van was arranged for the bridesmaids (my fav) and we used my Dad’s old Alfa for us. We had our pre-reception in a market style with small drinks and food stalls what guests could choose from, for example a coffee stall, g&t stalls and craft beer stand. Our inside reception deco was based on ribbons and colours! All the flowers were white but colour was brought in by the multi coloured ribbons on the roof. We also wanted lots of greenery and hanging items for the roof as it ties it all together. Wooden items, whites and colourful ribbons were used all over the venue.

Memorable Moments:

Groom

I enjoyed our ceremony which was in the forest. It had such a peaceful feeling about it and the trees were all different colours. We also had a weekend of celebrations that started on the Friday night and ended on the Sunday. The Sunday braai after party was one of the best. I would also say the lamb spit at the wedding – amazing.

Bride

The whole journey was so fantastic! My bridesmaids were so supportive and fun. My family all put in so much effort and all our friends took the time to make it to “our perfect wedding weekend”. We celebrated from the Thursday to the Sunday which made it feel so long! The best part for me was seeing everyone’s reaction when I got into my dress. I felt like a princess.

The BEST moment:

This is a tough question as we had the best time of our lives. We had a three day wedding as we had a pig spit the following day to see all the guests who traveled from far again. We would have to say our favorite moment from our wedding was the ceremony in the forest! It was so special as the scenery was beautiful, the trees were shades of green, yellow and red, we over looked a dam and it was just so peaceful. The excitement of seeing all the guests waiting for you is just the best feeling, then to see Max waiting for me down the aisle was even better. My dad handing me over to marry the man of my dreams… I think that is MY favorite!

Tips for the Planning:

We suggest having something planned for the night before and the day after as time just goes so quickly. The wedding day comes and goes but the memories last forever.

Other helpful advice:

Use good & reliable suppliers
Be as organized as possible
Don’t let anything upset you as emotions do run high
Be happy and everyone around will feel that energy
Enjoy every moment as it goes by so quickly
Don’t drink too much and remember to eat some food
Check your weather and create a plan B if needed
Keep your guests happy with lots of food & drinks
Music is important, hire a good DJ or band – you want guests to dance
Hire a GREAT photographer, you have those pictures forever
Be true to who you are and what you love, showcase this at your wedding
Its not about impressing people, it about the bride & grooms love for each other
