On Friday the 11th September 2015 Hao got engaged to Leona. This was a perfect beach proposal! All the way from San Francisco, USA they spent a magical holiday in Cape Town. He brought the ring in the States and kept it hidden until that perfect moment on the beach.

They met during their university exchange program in Beijing and have been together for 3 years. They both love traveling and exploring new countries thus Hao decided it was the perfect time to pop the question to his beautiful girlfriend.

His idea of a perfect proposal was on the beach with great views and a photographer to take photo’s. This was the brief he gave to us when planning their special day. So the planning began..

Clifton beach was chosen as it was close to where they were staying and the quietest at that time. On our arrival at the beach we noticed that the waves were very high, the swell that day was higher than usual. So after some time trying to pick the best spot, we found one and watched the waves closely, patiently waiting their arrival. While waiting we had two close calls where a huge wave came VERY close to the picnic set-up. If it had reached it, it would have washed away the whole thing. We quickly moved it to higher ground as the waves were looking dangerous. The new spot was perfect and the tide soon began to go out. We have a few scary moments but in the end all was perfect.

Hao and Leona walked along the beach and as she noticed the bubbly and ribbons Hao asked for her hand in marriage. Leona said YES! With all the nerves and excitement he placed the ring on the wrong hand, but soon noticed and swapped it over. So he got to go down on one knee a second time. 🙂 It was a perfect beach proposal. They popped the bubbly and called a few family members overseas to share the good news. After this they had a couples shoot with Nicola, the photographer. They love the camera and taking photo’s so this was a big part of their proposal. They were blessed with sunshine and no wind so it was a perfect day.

They really enjoyed their stay in Cape Town and experienced lots of romantic things all around the city. We wish them the very best for a happy and successful future together.
