When traveling from Port Elizabeth to Cape Town by vehicle, one passes through the stunning coastline towns of Plettenberg Bay, Knysna, Mossel Bay, and George, which make up The Garden Route.

The Garden Route is a stunning 300km stretch between Storms River and Mossel Bay. You absolutely must do the Garden Route if you’re planning to visit South Africa as it is arguably one of the most scenic drives one can take. As you approach the Tsitsikamma region, the national roads are lined with forests on the one side and the oceans (in the distance) on the other. It is a mere 2-3 hour trip from Port Elizabeth.

With options varying from romantic forest proposals, to intimate bedroom proposals with the Heads in the background, to the private wine cellar proposals, the Garden Route truly has a lot to offer couples. The Garden Route also offers options for picnics at the local vineyards as picturesque settings for a proposal.

When you travel through Knysna, you cannot miss driving to the lookout points to view The Heads. This area lends itself to idyllic picnic and beach proposal sites, and we have had the pleasure of setting up on the beaches, as well as the gorgeous Villas nearby!
