On the 9^th of March 2020, Perry asked his girlfriend Lucy,  to marry him and she said “but of course”!

Perry and Lucy are from the UK, and were coming to South Africa to spend time with their friends in Cape Town, The Garden Route and Port Elizabeth.

This was their third visit to South Africa and Perry contacted us to arrange a very intimate proposal, at one of their favourite places, Lairds’ Lodge, along the Garden Route. The Lodge holds very dear memories for them as a couple, having been there before with Lucy’s parents.

Perry requested a setup near the main pool area and was open to any ideas we had to make it personal. As purple is Lucy’s favourite colour, we incorporated it into the décor and flowers. Perry asked that the flowers be typically South African so we arranged for a colourful arrangement with Proteas being the main flower.

We asked for some photos that were special to Lucy to be sent to us, which included their animals, friends and family from back home. These were printed and hung on a string of peg lights, to add that personal touch.

After check-in at the Lodge, Perry and Lucy made their way to the outside porch to meet friends, whilst we setup the pool area.

We strung the lights against the walls with the photos and arranged the flowers on the table. There was a bottle of bubbly and four glasses with beautiful purple bows neatly wrapped around the stems.  Next to it was a basket with shades of purple, pink and green Lindt chocolates, wrapped in purple cellophane.  We hand punched paper hearts and arranged them around the bubbly and the table with the flowers. We arranged the “Marry Me” lights and we strew rose petals all about and “wrote” her name in petals on the ground so that it would be the first thing she saw when entering the pool area.

When they were requested to join other guests at the pool side, we snuck away to capture the moment, in the nearby shrubs.  The couple arrived, and Lucy commented on the lovely rose petals all over the floor and when she looked again, she realised that she was being proposed to!

She broke into a nervous giggle and Perry dropped to one knee and asked her to marry him!  She was so shocked, as were the friends who were not aware that the proposal was going to take place, but she did finally say “Yes, of course!”  Perry presented Lucy with a temporary engagement ring, as they were going to Port Elizabeth to select one.  We all congratulated the excited couple and took some photos for them to remember this special occasion.
