On the 28th of February 2025, this splendid couple got married.

When love crosses oceans, it deserves a celebration to match — and that’s exactly what Michaela and Ryan gave their guests this February with a breathtaking three-day wedding celebration in Cape Town. Flying in from the UK, the couple gathered their closest friends and family for an unforgettable destination wedding at Hawksmoor Manor in Stellenbosch.

Day One: The Welcome Braai

The festivities started with a relaxed South African tradition — a pre-wedding braai. As the Cape sun began to dip behind Table Mountain, guests sipped local wines and gathered around the fire, enjoying grilled delights and reconnecting. It was the perfect way to settle into the warm, welcoming rhythm of the week.

Day Two: The Wedding Day

On the second day, it was the wedding day! Michaela walked down the aisle in a truly special gown — her mother’s vintage wedding dress, lovingly restored and glowing with sentiment and style. It was a touching nod to family history and a beautiful symbol of new beginnings. The wedding was filled with fun, laughter, and love.

The ceremony was in front of the barn, which was a perfect setting and in the shade, shielding guests from the heat of Stellenbosch. Guests enjoyed live music and food stations during pre-drinks, it ended with guests dancing and jamming to the sax players music.

As the sun set, guests dined al fresco, enjoying world-class Cape wines and locally inspired cuisine. They opted for platter to tables, which Table Seven executed perfectly. The vibe was electric, from hilarious speeches, to African dancing and many many cheering. The guests danced late into the night to celebrate this amazing couple.

Day Three: The Pool Party

With spirits still high, the party continued in a laid-back pool party that perfectly captured the couple’s fun-loving nature. The weather continued to shine, and so did everyone’s smiles. With cocktails in hand, feet in the water, and panoramic views all around, the party was a joyful exhale after a weekend full of love and laughter.

An Unforgettable Celebration

Michaela and Ryan’s wedding was more than just an event, it was an experience. Every detail reflected their journey and personalities. Cape Town will forever hold a special place in their story, and for everyone lucky enough to attend, it was a week they’ll never forget.

Amy and Wayne live in the UK but were born in South Africa. They knew their venue was the hidden gem, Grand Dédale in Wellington. This stunning venue has a relaxed feeling with amazing views of the surrounding mountains.

The ceremony took place on the front lawn with great views of the mountains as the backdrop. The wedding couple were framed by an arch that was covered in beautiful flowers and greenery. Because it was such a warm afternoon, guests were given parasols to keep themselves shaded.

The pre-reception was held around the pool and on the grass around the manor house. The venue served canapés and drinks while the guests enjoyed each others company. Las Paletas kept guests cool with refreshing ice lollies in a variety of delicious flavours. Amy and Wayne had a short couples shoot and were back to mingle with guests.

When it was time for the guests to enter the reception, they were asked to move to the patio in front of the manor house.

Puccini creations did a spectacular job with the flowers and décor on the tables. Amy gave them a brief of natural and elegant, with a touch of pink. They did garlands of greenery with pink and white flowers. There were hanging naked bulbs from the ceiling, which were staggered at different heights to bring in another element. Tina from the venue was superb in getting the tables laid and everything looked neat and tidy. Overall the reception venue looked beautiful! They had 80 guests seated at one long table, with the bridal couple in the middle.

Once all the guests were seated at the reception, Amy and Wayne entered as a married couple. Starters were served which were followed by speeches and then mains. The venue did all the catering which looked delicious!

They cut their cakes before the first dance which were added to the dessert table. The pearl white dance floor located in front of the patio looked amazing with all the fairy lights strung above. The bridal couple’s first dance was so special, as guests gathered around with sparklers. As it got dark and guests began dancing, it felt like they were dancing under the stars.

Planning an eco-friendly wedding? On a tight budget? Love simple deco? well then using greenery in your wedding theme would work beautifully. Here are a few pointers when using greenery at your wedding.

• Flowers can be a huge cost rather than using greenery from a garden.
• Green is a very calming colour which is needed on your wedding day! It’s known as the restful colour along with freshness and growth.
• We also just love garlands of greenery on the tables, it gives weddings a dramatic effect without breaking the budget.
• Add roof installations of greenery to bring the look & feel together, it can also work to hide light fittings.
• Using greenery is great as it goes with any other colour, some work better than others but it’s a neutral base, you can add on from there (if you want).
• There are some wonderful green bouquets being created, branch out and use aloes, succulents or air plants.
• Use greenery as smaller details, like name tags or to decorate your wedding cake.
•  Why not bring green into your wedding dress? duck egg green or sage is a very soft colour.
• Add greenery to your seating chart if allows, for a softer look.
• Create hoops or hanging items of greenery to break a solid wall or for texture behind the bridal table.
• Hire in trees to make a venue look smaller & warmer.
• Wedding stationery using greenery is just lovely, it’s neutral and sets the tone for the wedding.
• We know greenery is a huge trend and has been for the last couple of years, but we can see it’s here to stay for a long time. Enjoy this lovely trend while it lasts.
• We love greenery for weddings as it compliments most venues and brings the outdoors inside.
• Remember to make your wedding your own, with our favourite rule, use personal details that represent you as a couple that gives your wedding personality.

We were so privileged to assist plan this beautiful wedding. One of the largest we have organised to date, with 400 people attending it was one for the record books. The chosen venue was Lourensford in Somerset West. This was a great venue as they wanted elegance, romance and beauty.

Cape Town weather in January as we all know can be VERY hot or windy, but someone was looking after this stunning couple and it was a perfect day. Somerset West had fires in the area but luckily it did not affect the venue. Nothing dulled this special day for Alia and Imraan.

Alia wanted white deco, so orchids, tulips, roses and greenery were all ordered in. The tables were set up in long rows with a bridal table at the end. This was done for space and flow of guests. All items were hired in to keep everything uniform. We set up mostly everything the day before and then flowers were placed on the tables on the wedding day. It was a great team effort from all involved.

Alia and Imraan got married in the mosque that Friday evening so the Saturday reception was the ‘party’. With many events leading up to the Saturday wedding family and friends helped out in any way they could. There was a huge feeling of love throughout the planning.

This wedding had many elements to keep guests entertained, a harvest table was laid out for guests arrival. Paige was hired to sing at cocktail hour and to start the party after the dinner. A coffee and dessert station was set-up for later that evening. We have to make a special mention to Just Baked on their FABULOUS dessert table. This table consisted of the most delicious looking desserts we have seen in a long time. After the speeches were finished we opened the table and a mad rush began as every guest wanted to try EVERY treat!

The food was another item to mention, it was delicious! A 3-course dinner made with love & care. Guests started off with salads, moving on from there to halwa. The third course were platters to the table of chicken, leg of lamb and prawns. A feast for a king!

The speeches were lovely, everyone mentioned Alia as the most beautiful bride and we would have to agree. As you can see from the photo’s And Story did am amazing job capturing their day. We can’t wait to see more photos and the wedding video.

Alia and Imraan are perfectly matched and radiate happiness. Wishing them all the best for the future as MR & MRS. Alia and Imraan Wedding Day was magnificent, we just loved assisting this special couple. Thanks for choosing us as your wedding planners. x
